“Rocco lives in Albenga, in the Ligurian Coast. The highway ramp emptied into a roundabout, where Rocco would station himself in the late afternoon, with a seat and drum, sometimes with a megaphone, other times not. He would practice his drumming on this island, measuring his pace with the flow of the traffic. Periodically he would transfer the rhythm of his beat to his foot, and raise one hand to greet and bid farewell to all those coming and going to the town.”
